What is All Stars?
All Stars is a Colorado Swimming sponsored event. It is a meet swam against other LSCs, including Nebraska, Iowa, South Dakota and Kansas.
Who is invited to All Stars?
The top 10 swimmers from each gender and following age groups 10 & under, 11 & 12, and 13 & 14 are invited to represent Colorado at this meet. There are no qualifying times. The CSI database top 10 lists are used to compile the team.
Where is the meet?
The meet is in Lawrence, Kansas.
When is the meet?
This year the meet is during the Martin Luther King Jr. weekend. The Colorado All Star team will leave on Friday, January 17th and return on the 19th.
How does the weekend work?
Team Colorado takes two charter buses to the meet. Chaperones and coaches travel and stay with the swimmers. The buses leave early Friday morning and return late Sunday night. During the three days they are swimming in a three session swim meet and traveling.
All Stars Selection Process
Selection is determined using a high point method. A list of the top 10 Swims in each all star event is used.
The fastest swimmer on the list In the past automatic spots have been given
to the top one or two swimmers in each All Star event.The number of automatic spots is determined
by the current Age Group Chairs. The
best bet for a swimmer to make the squad is to place in the top ten for All
Star events as much as possible and as high up as possible. The exact method of selection may vary from
year to year depending on the current Age Group Chairmen.
The deadline for meet results to CSI to be included in the database is the Monday after the second
weekend of December. The exact date maychange from year to year, be sure to ask the Age Group Chairmen if it is not
clear a meet will be included.
It is the coach’s responsibility to have the results of their swimmers’ races sent to CSI
by the deadline date.
The selection process may change from year to year.
How will I be notified if I make the team?
A packet of information will be sent to the swimmer’s home shortly after the deadline. Information will also be sent to the swimmers coaches as well.
Can parents travel with the team?
Chaperones, coaches and swimmers are the only individuals on the bus. Parents must make their own travel arrangements to the meet.
How are chaperones chosen?
An application is sent with the swimmers invitation to participate. Team managers pick the chaperones from the applications received. Make sure you read through the duties and responsibilities of chaperones before you apply.
Do athletes have to stay with the team?
Yes. The swimmers are expected to remain with the team through the end of the meet. The athlete code of conduct is included in the packet and it is encouraged the swimmer read through them prior to accepting the invitation to represent the team. Parents are encouraged to attend the meet and cheer on their child.
What is the cost of the trip and what does it include?
Last year the trip cost was $250 per swimmer, but the cost may vary from year to year. This includes team uniform (shirts, suit, cap), food, lodging, transportation, entry fees and team picture.
