USA Swimming introduces ultimate coach resource
Mon, 5 May 2008 11:35:18 -0600 USA Swimming’s ultimate coaching education resource, “Foundations of Coaching,” is now available on DVD for the first time. The two-DVD set provides over four hours of education for coaches of all levels.

Warkentin qualifies for Olympics
Mon, 5 May 2008 11:29:35 -0600 Mark Warkentin (Santa Barbara, Calif.) qualified for his first Olympics at the age of 28 today at the 5th FINA Open Water World Championships in the 10K open water race. The National Champion earned his spot at the Olympics after finishing 7th in a time of 1:53:37.1.

Open Water World Championships kick off
Mon, 5 May 2008 11:29:01 -0600 The 5th FINA Open Water World Championships kicked off today with the 10K open water race in Seville, Spain. The event served as a qualifier for the 2008 Olympic Games, with the top 10 finishers automatically qualifying to compete at the Olympics. This year will mark the first year the 10K race is swum at the Olympics.

Mutual of Omaha Swimvitational tickets now on sale
Mon, 5 May 2008 11:28:19 -0600 Tickets are now on sale for the Mutual of Omaha Swimvitational, the final meet of the 2007-08 Toyota Grand Prix Series. The meet is scheduled for June 5-8 at the Qwest Center Omaha.

Top U.S. open water swimmers to compete in Open Water Worlds
Mon, 5 May 2008 11:27:18 -0600 The nation's top open water swimmers will bid for a spot at the 2008 Olympic Games when they head to Seville, Spain for the 5th FINA Open Water World Championship Games. The event will be held May 3-8, 2008, in the Guadalquivir River and will feature races in the 5K, 10K, and 25K open water swim.

Study uncovers eye-opening statistics
Mon, 5 May 2008 11:26:53 -0600 A national, first-of-its kind survey found that approximately six out of 10 African-American children are unable to swim, nearly twice as many as their Caucasian counterparts. Similarly, 56% of Hispanic and Latino children are unable to swim.

Maccabi USA seeking Jewish swimmers
Tue, 22 Apr 2008 15:44:05 -0600 Maccabi USA/Sports for Israel, based in Philadelphia, PA, is seeking Jewish swimmers to represent the United States at the 18th World Maccabiah Games in Israel, July 13 – 23, 2009. There will be over 9,000 Jewish athletes from over 60 countries participating in the Games. Juniors and Open Athletes will be departing around July 2, 2009 for a mandatory Team USA Pre-Camp.

Burckle named nation's top female collegiate swimmer

The honor was based on the results of national balloting among 1,000 NCAA member schools as part of the Collegiate Women Sports Awards program, now in its 32nd year.

Cielo breaks 41-second barrier at NCAAs
Wed, 2 Apr 2008 11:55:27 -0600 One U.S. Open, two NCAA and two meet records were set Saturday on the final night of the 2008 NCAA Men’s Swimming and Diving Championships in Federal Way, Wash. Auburn University’s Cesar Cielo became the first man to break 41 seconds in the 100-yard free when he set the U.S. Open, NCAA and meet record in that event with a time of 40.92. Two events later, the University of Georgia’s Gil Stovall set an NCAA and meet record in the 200y butterfly with a time of 1:41.33.

Arizona wins NCAA Championship Title
Tue, 25 Mar 2008 11:31:35 -0600 The University of Arizona concluded the women’s NCAA Swimming and Diving Championships in Columbus, Ohio in first place. Arizona totaled 484 points to win its 16th championship title. Auburn finished second with 348 points, followed by Stanford with 343 points.

Arizona breaks third American record
Tue, 25 Mar 2008 11:30:48 -0600 The University of Arizona continued its monopolization of the relays, breaking an American record and capturing two more NCAA relay titles at the 2008 NCAA Women’s Swimming and Diving Championships. With one day left, Arizona leads the meet by 117 points.



Two American records fall at Women's NCAA's
